TV spots for the Kia Soul are some of the most recognizable ads on TV (and online). If you’ve never seen the Kia hamsters get their Soul on, where have you been?
We’ve put together a list of our favorite ads from the series, along with some of our favorite features of the most energetic hatchback on the planet.
The 3 Best Ads from America’s Favorite Hatchback, the Kia Soul
- Hamsters Hustle, Too.
Song: “Applause” by Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga’s first-pumping “Applause” soundtracks this commercial.
These hamsters are a bit rotund around the midsection. But they’re working to change that. To the verve of Lady Gaga’s vocals, we see the Soul hamsters get their hustle on. The hamsters jump rope, shadow box, and jog across the beach to get in shape. While the hamsters are hustling, an engineer – who bears a striking resemblance to Kia’s President and chief of design, Peter Schreyer – perfects the Kia Soul’s design in his laboratory.
After putting in the work, the Soul Hamsters take to the red carpet looking as spectacular as the Kia Soul. This ad heralded the most recent major redesign. For the 2014 model year, the Soul slimmed down with a streamlined design. It also got a makeover on the inside with more comfortable seating and a reworked range of entertainment technology.
- Soul Swag
Song: “The choice is Yours” by Black Sheep
The runner up on our list takes us back to 2010 and the first generation Soul. In this commercial, Black Sheep’s hook, “You can get with this, or you can get with that,” delivers the underlying message. You can get with a slick, gas-efficient Kia Soul, or you can get with something much less desirable, like a toaster on wheels.
The Soul Hamsters don fresh duds and gold chains. In just under a minute, they swagger about a close-knit city neighborhood. They’ve got moves and they know it. And they’re undeniable cool, like the Kia Soul.
It’s an earlier version of the car, but this ad still shows off some of the Soul’s most recognizable features, even on today’s model. It’s got available Bluetooth® wireless audio streaming, speakers with built-in mood lighting that matches your music, and a fuel efficiency rating that will carry you all over town.
- Kia Souls for One and All
Song: “Soul Jam” by Nathaniel Rateliff and the Soul Hamsters
With the foot-tapping melodies of Nathaniel Rateliff and the Soul hamsters, this commercial celebrates the stylish diversity of the Kia Soul.
As birds chirp, a denim-clad Nathaniel Rateliff plucks an infectious melody on his guitar. That’s when the Soul Hamsters arrive to back him up. First, it’s a slender hamster in western regalia playing a banjo. Then it’s a spunky hamster with a blue mohawk shredding an electric guitar. This sets off a bonanza of musicians, both human and hamster, rushing to join the celebration.
The competition is fierce, but this is the Kia Soul hamsters best act. The commercial shows the stylish colors and design of the Kia Soul in all its iterations: Gas, Electric, and Turbo (coming soon).
It also shows off the Soul’s generous passenger and cargo space. Who would have thought a subcompact car could fit all those instruments and people?
It’s the celebration of hamsters and humans revelling in music from around the world that puts this one on top for us, though. The Kia Soul is a world vehicle for the modern day, and you owe it to yourself to take a test drive if you haven’t already.
Visit Union County Kia if you want to know more about the new Kia Soul. One of the staff at our Charlotte area dealership will be happy to show you the car.
